The 45-member team includes highly-trained members who are able to conduct search and rescue operations in a variety of challenging situations, including at collapsed building sites and in fast flowing water.

A team may be needed for a varietyof emergencies or disasters, including, but not limited to earthquakes, hurricanes, storms, tornadoes, floods, dam failures, technological accidents, terrorist activities, and hazardous materials releases.
